About your Therapist

My Experience

I have been a therapist for almost 20 years. I began practicing in NJ, but have lived in NY for the lionโ€™s share of my career.

I worked in two Dual Recovery programs, where we worked with people who were experiencing both mental health and substance abuse issues. I had my own caseload of individuals, to whom I provided individual therapy. I also facilitated group therapy for anyone who was enrolled at the program, whose needs could be addressed in the group.

Most recently, I worked for many years at a Mental Health Clinic, initially as a clinician and then as a supervisor. As a clinician I worked with a caseload of at least 45-50 individuals, aged 5 to mid-70โ€™s, from various backgrounds/cultures, with various mental health diagnoses and needs. At times their family members or significant others were also a part of treatment as well. These individuals and I worked together to improve their symptoms of anxiety, depression, other serious mental illnesses, reduce effects of trauma, adjust to life transitions/stressors, develop skills to navigate relationship difficulties and cope with grief.

Then, while a supervisor I continued to have a caseload of people that I met with for therapy. I supervised clinicians and was also responsible for other programatic duties.

However, my experience in therapy began long before all of that. I began therapy in my teenage years, following the sudden loss of my father, which coincided with other traumatic events. My therapists throughout the years (yup, I still have a therapist ๐Ÿ’š) have helped me process through struggles and develop skills to live a healthier life and achieve so many of my goals. I was inspired by those healing, supportive experiences to become a therapist also. I am working to give to others the gifts that were given to me.
